Firebrand BJP leader Kapil Mishra, who many accuse is the instigator of the ongoing violence in parts of Delhi after clashes broke out between pro and anti CAA groups, is in no mood to calm down even as tensions continue to flair in the national capital.?
On Tuesday Mishra tweeted a short video showing police in riot gear patrolling an empty road below the Metro station in Northeast Delhi¡¯s Jafrabad, one of the worst affected areas due to violence saying that ¡°Jafrabad is empty. There won¡¯t be another Shaheen Bagh now.¡±?
On Wednesday Mishra, who has come under fire from various corners, including some from his own party brazened it out again. "Those who never considered Burhan Wani and Afzal Guru terrorists are calling Kapil Mishra a terrorist. Those who wanted to free Yakub Memon, Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Islam are demanding that Kapil Mishra be arrested,¡± he tweeted.?
There has been a growing call to arrest the former MLA for the provocative speech he made on Sunday.On Sunday, Mishra had issued an ultimatum to the Delhi Police to clear the streets of the anti-CAA protesters.?
Mishra had tweeted "Giving a three-day ultimatum to Delhi Police to clear the roads in Jafrabad and Chand Bagh of protesters. Don't try to reason with us after this, because we won't pay heed."?
He also attached a video with his tweet and wrote, "We will maintain peace until Donald Trump is in India. After that, we refuse to listen to even the police if the roads are not cleared.... we will be forced to hit the streets."?
On Tuesday, a day after the violence broke out Mishra alleged he was receiving threats to kill him from people in India and abroad. Mishra tweeted, "Phone calls from the country and overseas are continually coming, declaring I would be killed... threats are being issued. To demand that closed roads be opened is not a crime. To support the CAA is not a crime. To tell the truth, is not a crime. I don't fear this massive hate campaign against me."?
Meanwhile, another leader who has come under fire, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked Home Minister Amit Shah to call the army to instil confidence in people. Kejriwal said the police, despite all its efforts, had been unable to control the situation.¡°Army shud (should) be called in and curfew imposed in rest of affected areas immediately,¡± Kejriwal tweeted on Wednesday.?
?The AAP supremo had come under heavy criticism for what many see as his inaction to control the situation which is spiraling out of control.?
On Tuesday, Kejriwal and his ministers had gone to Rajghat and offered prayers there. He had also appealed to temples and mosques in the national capital to call for peace.?
According to the GTB Hospital so far 20 people have died there and more than 250 injured in three days of violence in Jafrabad, Maujpur and other areas of Northeast Delhi.? ?
On Wednesday, the AAP released a video allegedly showing BJP MLA Abhay Verma making rounds of Laxmi Nagar market in his constituency with at least 150 supporters, chanting provocative slogans.??
On Wednesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was busy with Donald Trump's India visit till Tuesday broke his silence on the violence.
"Had an extensive review on the situation prevailing in various parts of Delhi. Police and other agencies are working on the ground to ensure peace and normalcy," Modi said in a tweet.?
"Peace and harmony are central to our ethos. I appeal to my sisters and brothers of Delhi to maintain peace and brotherhood at all times. It is important that there is calm and normalcy is restored at the earliest," he added.

On Wednesday the Congress hit out at Delhi government, PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the violence. Notably absent from the meeting was Rahul Gandhi, who according to party leaders is currently out of the country.? ??
