Journalist turned podcaster Shubhankar Mishra recently interviewed Vikrant Massey ahead of the release of his film The Sabarmati Report. During the interview, he made a shocking claim regarding the 2019 Surat coaching fire tragedy. The journalist revealed that he was pressured to blame Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 2019 Surat coaching fire tragedy.
For the unversed, a fire had broken out at a commercial complex in Sarthana Jakatnaka area of Surat, Gujarat, which led to the death of 22 students at an academic coaching center located on the building's terrace. The incident took place on May 24, 2019. While talking about it, Mishra revealed,?"I was in Gujarat to cover the tragic Surat coaching fire incident, where students were forced to jump from the building to escape the flames. Disturbing footage of girls leaping from the building circulated at the time. It was a heartbreaking event, and we reported on it for two days. The coaching center was sealed, the accused were arrested, and the matter seemed to be resolved.?
"However, two days later, there was a major political rally in Ahmedabad. I asked my editor if I should go to the rally, as the culprits had been arrested and the coaching center shut down. But he advised against it. Instead, he told me, 'While the whole world broadcasts the rally, you should go to the homes of the victims in Surat. Find a child, get a soundbite from them asking, "Modi uncle, what did you do?" He wondered what could have been the outcome of such a video.?
In Shubankar Mishra's podcast, Vikrant Massey also made some comments that have become the eye of the storm. Massey is getting massively trolled becoming BJP friendly, while once he was a BJP critic. Fans wonder if he did this to promote his film The Sabarmati Report or has he changed in reality.
