Comedian Kunal Kamra recently took a playful swipe at actor Vikrant Massey following his statements supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Massey, for the unversed, has become the eye of the storm for his strong statements on various podcasts, which he is attending to promote his forthcoming film The Sabarmati Report. The Bollywood actor in the interviews has said that "Muslims are not in danger" and that Hindus have only realised their freedom and idnependence now. For both the statements, he is getting massively trolled and now joining the bandwagon and taking a dig at him is Kamra.?
Taking to Twitter, Kamra shared a video of Massey in which he is talking about freedom of expression in India. He referred to the independence from British rule in 1947 as "so-called Azaadi" and said that Hindus are finally feeling now that they have got the freedom. Commenting on this, the comedian wrote, "Brother that was a movie you don¡¯t actually have to Join UP Police as an IPS".?
Thus, Kamra took a dig at his previous film 12th Fail, in which he essayed the role of real-life?Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. Others also feel that once a BJP critic who hailed himself as a secular person, Massey is only making these comments to promote and support his film? The Sabarmati Report, so that it doesn't get banned.
However, Vikrant Massey in another podcast with Shubhankar Mishra was how he became a BJP supporter from being a BJP critic, to which he replied that he has changed in last ten years after personally having to witness the ground reality. He added that earlier he thought Muslims were in danger but now he believes they are not. Meanwhile, people continue to call him an opportunist.?
