Are you looking for a place to go on a trek? Well, this travel vlogger has made your search easy. He recently went on a trek and shared a mesmerising video of it on Instagram.?While on the adventurous expedition, he captured?the beauty of the 'Kashmir Great Lakes,' one of India's most gorgeous paths.
This hidden jewel, only 75 kilometres from the adorable city of Srinagar, offers a superb blend of fresh alpine lakes, snow-capped peaks, and lush meadows. Let's look at the view and plan exciting adventures that make the Kashmir Great Lakes trek a must-see for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Shubham Thakare shared the reel on his Instagram handle with the caption, "Lapped in the dreamscape of the Pir Panjal mountain range, the Kashmir great lakes trek is a 360¡ã panorama of wild, snow-clad mountains, rolling meadows, and turquoise alpine lakes. The trek is set on a canvas larger than life, and it truly validates Kashmir's mythical status as heaven on earth. It starts near Sonamarg, in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, which is situated about 75 km away from Srinagar."?
The walk to Kashmir Great Lakes is the answer if you're looking for a fairytale adventure.
According to the vlogger, the best time to visit Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is between July and September. This is the only time of year when the walk can be completed safely. The rest of the year, snow makes it impossible to walk in the area. While most hikes in the country are closed during the monsoon season, things are slightly different in Kashmir.?
The Pir Panjal Range spans 288 kilometres, preventing monsoon clouds from travelling across Kashmir Valley. As a result, compared to the rest of the Himalayan paths, there is plenty of sunshine and nice weather during these months.?
The countryside becomes greener and more alive, making the journey even more delightful. In early July, the first blossoms can be seen among patches of snow at higher elevations. July and August are the hottest months in Kashmir with complete summer-like conditions.
September has the most magnificent weather - there's a slight chill in the air and brilliant blue skies to bask under. Snow begins to fall in the valley at the end of September.
Thakare explained in his post: "KGL climbs up to a high altitude of 4200 metres and is rated as a moderately difficult trek. It covers a total distance of 75 km and is suitable only for fit trekkers."?
The trail includes meadows and steep climbs that can be difficult for beginners.?
A journey through "Paradise on Earth" is a divine experience. This strenuous 75-kilometre walk is well worth the effort.?The trek's major attraction is the seven gorgeous high-altitude lakes of Vishansar, Kishansar, Gadsar, Satsar, Gangbal, Nandkol, and Dal Lake.
Ice-capped mountains flank pure blue waters with floating ice chunks. The vista is as beautiful as a painting, with lush green fields, tall trees, and bright wildflowers.?This walk includes multiple mountain passes, as well as ascents and descents. The highest point is the Gadsar Pass, over 13,700 feet above sea level.
Follow this order: Srinagar ¡ú Sonmarg ¡ú Nichnai via Shekdur ¡ú Vishansar Lake ¡ú Gadsar via Kishansar Lake & Gadsar Pass ¡ú Satsar ¡ú Gangabal twin Lakes ¡ú Naranag ¡ú Back to Srinagar.?
A minimum of seven days are required to reach your destination and enjoy the view.?
