A quaint colonial looking hill station, nestled the midst of serene Kumaoni hills of Uttarakhand, Ramgarh is only 35 kms from Nainital.?Whether you are a nature lover, or adventure enthusiast, there's something for everyone. Like many hill stations, one can go for trekking and hiking on some beautiful stretches in Ramgarh which serve stunning landscape views.?
Nathukhan and Gagar are two such places perfect for those long walks. Needless to say, it is also a photographer's delight as there are many sunrise and sunset points,?Remote and quiet Ramgarh is also filled with orchards of apricots, apples and peaches. So do stop buy to try some and buy some of that local produce.?
For travellers who want to experience unique and luxurious stay, Ramgarh has the best homestays. Jolly Chalet is one such beautiful property that will amaze you that it exists up in the hills. I stayed here last weekend and was blown away by the breathtaking view, the place, the delicious food and the impeccable service.?
There was a jacuzzi for two right in the middle of the master bedroom. Yep! It was hard to believe that such a fine villa can exist way up in the hills. But like I said, it's only 6 hours away from Delhi, so one can now see many people from the city investing in the hills and setting up gorgeous villas and resorts.
There are many yoga retreats as well, so if breathing, meditation and calm is your goal, this is most peaceful place in the hills.?Not many people know, but Ramgarh also hold a literature significance. Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel laureate, stayed here and found inspiration for some of his works. so if you look journalling, reading and writing, again, this place is a 10/10.
While you are here, do try the local cuisine like the Kumaoni chicken, Bhaati ki Churkhani among other things.
Basically, Ramgarh is best of both worlds. Away from the commercial hustle bustle and still not too far away. An ideal weekend getaway that can be planned with friends, family and even just a couple in love. Actually, even a solo trip would be spectacular.
