Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light to open MAMI, here’s everything you need to know about the film festival

For cine lovers, it's Mumbai calling this weekend! The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI)-organized Film Festival kicks off on Saturday, with Payal Kapadia’s award-winning movie All We Imagine As Light opening the festival on Friday. In case you weren’t aware of this upcoming cinematic celebration, we've got you covered.

All We Imagine As Light is a Malayalam-lingual movie starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam and Hridhu Haroon. The film premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on 23 May 2024 and won the Grand Prix.

Everything you need to know about MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024

Scheduled between October 19-24, this year's MAMI edition will showcase over 110 films from over 45 countries and 50+ languages, lengths and genres. All We Imagine As Light, however, will be shown on October 18, the day of the inaugural. According to their official website, this is a six-day celebration of global cinema, creativity, community, and culture.

Juries and board members of MAMI 2024

This year’s South Asia Competition Jury has Rada ?e?i?, Clarence Tsui, Kate Laurie, Jér?me Baron and Marie Fuglestein L?greid. Their NETPAC Jury includes Dr Ida Yoshinaga, Dr Tsengel Davaasambuu and Upali Gamlath. MAMI’s this year’s Dimensions Mumbai Jury is being headed by Amit Masurkar, Chaitanya Tamhane and Paromita Vohra. Aditi Rao Hydari, Hansal Mehta and Rajshri Deshpande are Large Short Films Jury this year.

MAMI is chaired by actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and its esteemed list of other board members includes Nita Ambani, Anand Mahindra, Anupama Chopra, Ajay Bijli, Anjali Menon, Farhan Akhtar, Isha Ambani, Kabir Khan, Kaustubh Dhavse, Rana Daggubati, Riteish Deshmukh, Rohan Sippy, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Zoya Akhtar.
