Himesh Reshammiya headlined the 2014 film The Xpose and took the nation by storm. 11 years after that, he is arriving on the big screen with its spin-off reprising his iconic character of Ravi Kumar and the audiences cannot keep calm. Badass Ravi Kumar is releasing on 7th February 2025 in theatres. Other than Himesh, it also stars Prabhu Deva, Kirti Kulhari, Simona J, Saurabh Sachdeva, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Prashant Narayanan, KK Taharpuriya, Anil George and Rajesh Sharma in key roles. Sunny Leone makes an extended cameo in this and has also featured in most of the film's songs.
Directed by Keith Gomes and produced by Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, this Himesh musical is choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, cinematographed by Manoj Soni and edited by Rameshwar S. Bhagat. AA Films has distributed this Kushal Ved Bakshi written saga whose dialogues were penned by Bunty Rathore.
The film got approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on January 29 after some changes were made. These included blurring alcohol brand names, middle finger visuals, and certain sensual scenes, like close-ups of a woman in a bikini and a man's hand on a woman's thigh or butt. Violent scenes were also edited, and the word "bitch" was removed.
After these changes,?Badass Ravi Kumar?received a UA 16+ rating, with a runtime of 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 44 seconds.
The musical has already recovered its production costs of Rs 20 crore through music rights (Rs 16 crore) and subsidies (Rs 4 crore) and reportedly Himesh even waived his fee for a profit-sharing deal. The film has made a strong start in advance bookings, selling around 3,200 tickets across major chains (PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis) for the opening day, per the data received on Wednesday at 9 AM.
Advance bookings opened on Tuesday (4th February) evening, and over 3,000 tickets were sold in less than 12 hours. If this momentum continues, the film could sell around 40,000 tickets, potentially opening with an estimated Rs 5 crore.
