Badshah is one of the most popular names in the music industry. During his career, the rapper has remixed several songs and tried to create his own legacy. However, his efforts haven¡¯t always been appreciated. This is exactly what happened when he worked on the Humma Song from OK Jaanu. The track, a remix of AR Rahman¡¯s Humma Humma from Bombay (1995), received flak. In a new interview,? he revealed that even the ¡®Mozart of Madras¡¯ himself expressed unhappiness about it but later ¡®apologised¡¯ to him.?
Badshah, who has made a name for himself in the industry through remixes, failed to impress the audience with the Humma Song from OK Jaanu (2017). In a recent interview with Radio Nasha, a radio channel, Badshah revealed that AR Rahman too wasn¡¯t too happy with the remix,? He added that ARR later apologised for judging the song prematurely and said that he liked it.?
¡°He said I am sorry. It took me time to realise it¡¯s a good song. I was just unhappy because of¡¡¯ there were some things,¡± he said.
Badshah further called this the ¡®biggest validation¡¯ he received for his version of Humma Humma.?
AR Rahman is not a fan of remixing old songs. In an interview in 2017, the Dil Se composer?said he did not want to give Shaad Ali (the director of OK Jaanu) permission to recreate the song but changed his mind after the filmmaker insisted.?
¡°He kept on asking if we could use the song. So I asked Tanishk to come up with the first four bars of the song, and I kind of liked the beat. It sounded good and a bit different,¡± he had told Hindustan Times.?
The AR Rahman-composed original version of Humma Humma became a chartbuster and helped him consolidate his standing in the industry. It was sung by Remo and used in Arvind Swami-led Bombay.?
Coming back to the present, AR Rahman recently made headlines when he announced his decision to part ways with Saira Banu, his wife. The two were together for nearly 30 years.??Badshah, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of the Get Ready song from the Varun Dhawan-fronted Baby John. The film, a remake of Theri, is slated to hit the screens on December 25.??
