Deep Cover OTT Release Date: What happens when improv actors are pulled into real crime investigations? Amazon Prime Video¡¯s upcoming film Deep Cover tries to answer that with chaos, laughs, and a whole lot of action. Starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Orlando Bloom, this quirky comedy is all set to stream on June 12, 2025.
Deep Cover follows three underemployed improv actors in London - Kat, Marlon, and Hugh - who are unexpectedly recruited by the police to participate in undercover operations. They¡¯re good at pretending, and the police think that might just be enough to help catch real criminals. But what starts as a bizarre gig soon becomes a dangerous game as their ¡°yes-and¡± improv philosophy pushes them deeper into a criminal underworld they¡¯re clearly unprepared for.
With fake moustaches, unconvincing accents, and a complete lack of training, this unlikely trio ends up improvising their way through real-life stings, dealing with actual criminals, and narrowly avoiding disaster, all while treating it like a stage performance. Deep Cover is produced by Metronome Film Co. in collaboration with Parkes/MacDonald Image Nation.
This genre-blending film stars some well-known names from both Hollywood and British television including Bryce Dallas Howard playing Kat, a sensible improv teacher holding the group together, Orlando Bloom as Marlon, a dramatic method actor who takes everything way too seriously and Nick Mohammed (of Ted Lasso fame) portraying Hugh, whose chaotic imagination drives most of the madness.
Supporting roles include Sean Bean as the detective running the sting operation, Ian McShane (John Wick) as an Albanian crime boss alongside Paddy Considine and Sonoya Mizuno. Deep Cover is directed by Tom Kingsley, known for Stath Lets Flats. The script is penned by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly - the duo behind the Jurassic World films, with additional contributions from comedy duo Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen.
