Glass Heart OTT Release Date: If you love stories filled with soaring music, emotional journeys, and intense band rivalries, mark July 31 on your calendar. That¡¯s when Glass Heart, Japan¡¯s latest musical drama starring Takeru Satoh and Yu Miyazaki, starts streaming exclusively on Netflix. Here¡¯s all you need to know.
At the centre of Glass Heart is Akane Saijo (Yu Miyazaki), a talented drummer who hits rock bottom when she¡¯s unexpectedly kicked out of her band just before their big debut. But fate has other plans. Enter Naoki Fujitani (Takeru Satoh), a gifted but mysterious musician who¡¯s forming a new band - TENBLANK. He sees something special in Akane and invites her to join his group alongside guitarist Sho Takaoka (Keita Machida) and keyboardist Kazushi Sakamoto (Jun Shison).
As the four members come together, their chemistry and energy on stage begin to create magic. But stardom doesn¡¯t come easy. As TENBLANK climbs the charts, they¡¯re faced with everything from rival bands (including OVER CHROME led by charismatic singer Toya Shinzaki, played by Masaki Suda) to the shady underbelly of the music industry. And at the centre of it all is the growing connection and tension between Akane and Fujitani.
Music isn¡¯t just a background element in Glass Heart, it¡¯s the pulse of the show. One standout is ¡°Crystalline Echo,¡± performed by Takeru Satoh and written by Yojiro Noda (yes, from RADWIMPS!). This is the first time fans will hear the voice of TENBLANK in action, and it¡¯s as powerful as you'd hope.
Even more exciting? The massive concert scene featured in the teaser was filmed with over 5,000 extras and 12 cameras. Plus, the production quality is top-notch. Directed by Kensaku Kakimoto and Kohtaro Goto, with lighting, design, sound, and VFX all handled by some of Japan¡¯s best, Glass Heart is visually and emotionally rich. It¡¯s also based on the beloved novel by Mio Wakagi, so fans of the original will see a thoughtful adaptation brought to life with care.
