Many films have often been accused of having strange similarities to previously released works. ¡®Chhatriwali¡¯, starring Rakul Preet Singh, is a recent example of this.?
The movie, which focuses on sex education and the value of condom use, is now being compared to Nushrratt Bharuccha's Janhit Mein Jaari.?
The use of condoms and all the secrecy surrounding it were also discussed in Bharuccha's film.
Of course, there is a romantic component as well. Both of the characters fall in love with random guys. Rakul had kept her job from her husband, but Nushrratt had informed the man beforehand (which is one difference).
By now, you must have figured that the name "Chhatriwali" refers to a condom, therefore you'll be astonished to learn that both "Chhatriwali" and "Janhit Mein Jaari" share the word "Chhatri" as well. Bharrucha works for a company called "Little Umbrella," and "Chhatriwali" Rakul poses as an employee of a factory that produces umbrellas. (While in reality that's not where she works)
Well, "Chhatriwali" can be given the benefit of the doubt because it is likely being compared in context of the similarity in subject and the fact that not many movies discuss it, but viewers would have like to see far more differences in the plot.?
There are many aspects of "Chhatriwali" that bring to mind the earlier movie, but given how important the topic is, it's okay for other movies to tackle it.
Is the nation still so ignorant about the advantages of contraception given the subject matter and plot of the movie? particularly condoms? Its 2023! We may all agree that there may be places where using a condom is regarded as "ashleel," but will people who have the?privilege?of accessing OTT be so unaware? The question remains.
Many woke netizens also could not help but compare the two films.?One user wrote, #ChhatriwaliOnZEE5 is Directly equals to #JanhitmeinJaari?Abe bollywood ka hi bollywood remake q bna diya Concept and story sab same Bs Actor and 60% dialogue change the Company tak same umbrella company?Apne Kam ko na bta pane ka hesitation Aur bad me pta chlne pr bwal Sab¡±
Another wrote, "#Chattriwali starting with remake of?#janhitmeinjaari?but ending with good measage about sex education should be complusary in every school. The message is not in good way it¡¯s lot of comedy which doesn¡¯t good with this type of social messages (sic)".
Take a look at some reactions here:
#Chhatriwali trailer is sooo similar to #Janhitmeinjaari ...... No extra elements are there to make this film different than other social comedy... Average trailer it was
For the unversed, ¡®Chhatriwali¡¯ can be watched on Zee5 and if you have missed out on ¡®Janhit Mein Jaari¡¯ then it is available on the same platform too.
