Kaalapatthar OTT release date: This Kannada film directed by and starring Vikky Varun, known for his roles in Kenda Sampige and College Kumar, is finally set for its OTT debut after its theatrical release in September last year. Kalapattharwill soon be available to stream on Sun NXT, though the official release date is yet to be announced.
The film follows Shankar (played by Vikky Varun), a Border Security Force soldier who¡¯s also known for his cooking skills.?
After performing a brave act during Kargil Vijay Diwas, he¡¯s celebrated as a hero. When he returns to his village, Mudalapalya, the community honors him by building a statue in his name.?
However, what begins as a tribute soon stirs unexpected challenges such as political tensions and social conflict.
Strangely, Shankar begins to feel a deep, almost mystical connection to the statue. He senses the weather it endures? - burning heat, heavy rain - even while far away.?
This bond grows so strong that when plans arise to remove the statue, he goes to great lengths to protect it, risking everything he has.
According to The Hindu, the film "takes a realistic and grounded approach to a heavy subject of building statues and the intentions behind it."
Meanwhile, The New Indian Express notes that the film "reflects deep human connections and honours the legacy of Dr Rajkumar."
Produced under the banner of Bhuvan Movies, Kaalapatthar is directed by and stars Vikky Varun, alongside Dhanya Ramkumar, T.S. Nagabharana, Achyut Kumar, Sampath (of KGF fame), Rajesh Nataranga, Galli Nata, Basu Hiremath, and Kanthraj Kaddipudi.?
The film is produced by Suresh and Nagaraju (Billinakotte), with cinematography by Sandeep Kumar and music composed by Anoop Seelin 2.O. Deepu S. Kumar handled the editing, while makeup was done by Rajesh N and costumes by Puttaraju.?
Action sequences were choreographed by Vikram Mor and Mass Maada, and DI was managed by Tom from Spot Studio.?
The film¡¯s PR was overseen by Sudhidra Venkatesh, with Raagu Mysore as the art director. Santhosh Mundina Mane served as the associate director, and trailer editing was done by Ajay and Mahesh K. Manu S. Gowda worked as the spot editor, with Shivu Gowda as the creative producer and Filmy Cults as the creative partner. Line production was managed by Girish Nagappa, Lokesh, and Devaraju.
