Manvat Murders is now streaming on OTT platform SonyLiv. The series is based on real-life mysterious murders that took place in Maharashtra's Manwat village. The show is said to be inspired by Amol Palekar¡¯s Marathi film Akriet. If you have watched the series and are confused about the last scenes in the series, here is an ending explained:?
Manvat Murders revolves around a real-life cop and a case of mysterious murders. The policeman Ramakant Kulkarni is being played by filmmaker and actor Ashutosh Gowariker.?
Kulkarni's passion and record of solving crime cases landed him in Manvat village in the web show.?
In the show, the main accused, Rukminibai, is shown in love with a married upper-caste man, Uttamrao Barhate. The two had different motivations, as Rukmini is shown unable to bear children, while Uttamrao is shown as a greedy man who wants the gold he is convinced is buried under a peepal tree.
Rukmini and Uttamrao are informed by a local man that the spirit of a boy is trapped in the tree and that they should free it by human sacrifice to fulfil their desires. The two hire men to sacrifice humans, but the cases force a police investigation.
Gowariker¡¯s character starts interrogating a suspect in the murder case. Kulkarni, upon interrogating the suspected man, realises that he is a paedophile but believes that the man is not really involved in the killings.
The case basically gets solved with Kulkarni's deliberate efforts. The case was solved not through immediate handling or examination of physical evidence but through meticulous research of existing paperwork and interrogations by Kulkarni.?
