More Than Just Zombies! The Last Of Us Episode 3 Sets A Benchmark, Hits The Right Emotional Note

Zombies and apocalyptic shows have a lot of takers. Over the years, these kinds of shows have garnered a solid audience base. The latest offering from HBO The Last Of Us had been much anticipated. More so because it is an adaptation of a high rating video game of the eponymous name.

By the second episode, loyal fans couldn’t help but compare the game with the show. While many expressed disappointment over the exact copying of scenes in the show, others weren’t happy with a major change - the airborne fungal phenomena.

However, both these groups came to a mutual agreement once the third episode premiered. Titled Long Long Time, the third installment made fans highly emotional for it narrated a tale of true and everlasting love, which no one saw coming.

After keeping its focus largely on Joel and Ellie in its first two episodes, The Last of Us shakes things up by narrating the beautiful love story of Bill - a prepper (someone who prepared religiously for the pandemic) and Frank (a survivor).

(Spoiler Alert: Consider yourself warned! Tread carefully.)

For the unversed, in the series we are shown initial days of the cordyceps outbreak, people had little understanding of what was happening and there were countless uninfected people who lost their lives as the American government began evacuating areas and at the same time executing civilians in an attempt to contain the mutant fungus’ spread.

Frank instead of partaking in the evacuation drive chose to hide in the basement of his house which he turned into a bunker and once the entire town was deserted, he zombie-profed his property so that he could safely live there uninterrupted. We are given an impression that he was an antisocial person who didn’t mind living in solitude for the rest of his life. All that changed one day when Frank showed up.

Initially, he only requests for a hearty meal before he goes on his way to find shelter in a? safe area but this small and tense encounter soon turns into a full-blown romance between the two.?

We find ourselves in the perfect world of Bill and Frank who surprisingly find love when the world around them is ending. In this dark world, they become each other’s support and the motivation to live and they do lead a contented life.

In this journey there are ups and downs but they sail through and also form an alliance with Joel and Tess. They live in their own bubble away from the misery that the world is collectively facing. Instead of falling prey to the zombies, they chose their own end and crossed the bridge to the other side together.
