The industry trend among big Hollywood studios is about to be followed by Netflix, the streaming behemoth recognized for its wide variety of original shows. The streaming platform is on to build some of its beloved movies into expansive franchises.
The announcement that Wednesday, one of the wildly successful series, would have spin-offs, and that Peaky Blinders will undergo a major TV project expansion are just two of the noteworthy developments.
A recent report from Bloomberg claims that the streaming service is preparing multiple spin-offs of its beloved television series and films. It has been suggested that the streamer intends to enter the thrilling world of franchises by constructing a vast universe based on its current intellectual assets.

According to Bloomberg, Netflix intends to extend the series with a spin-off centered around Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen, who made a cameo appearance in the seventh episode of the first season of the show. Following Wednesday's success, reports also indicate that the streamer is preparing a series of Addams Family episodes, though no other details are available at this time.
Another spin-off is planned by the show's creators as a way to grow the universe. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and The Witcher: Blood Origin are two spin-offs that Netflix has already made available. On the other hand, there were rumors earlier this year that a possible spin-off series based on the controversial band of bandits called The Rats was being developed. The streamer is also working on a family-friendly animated series, though no official word on its development has been made public.
The creator of the show has revealed that he is nearing completion on the script for the spin-off movie, which is scheduled to begin filming in 2024.
Stranger Things is another well-liked and successful series that is slated for a spin-off. The Hollywood Reporter disclosed earlier this year that an animated series with no name yet that takes place in the Stranger Things universe is now in development. If any cast members from the original show will be included in the new series, Matt and Ross Duffer have not made that clear. A second, as-yet-untitled live-action spin-off of Stranger Things is apparently in development in addition to the animated series.
A spin-off centered on Pedro Alonso's character Berlin, Money Heist, a Spanish crime drama directed by ?lex Pina, was confirmed by Netflix in 2021. The show, which will shortly launch on Netflix, follows Berlin as he organizes a group of friends and makes preparations for one of his biggest heists to date.
