In the spy comedy "Mrs. Undercover," Radhika Apte, who portrays Durga, a housewife and undercover operative, claimed she fell in love with her character the moment she read the script.
She said: "I think the premise of the film was really exciting for me. We live in a country where there is a lot of patriarchy and so many women slog days and nights to keep their families happy, and yet go unnoticed so I think it did resonate with me and what I like about Durga is her innocence, her naivety, her clumsiness and even her journey of discovering herself. I think that was really good."
"I mean it's high time that we have equality, the world is changing and now everyone is fighting for equal rights, equal pay, equal job opportunities and equal recognition. Film industry is just a reflection of what is going around in society and the world is changing very slowly and yet some parts of the world aren't and I think that's just why we are getting some better parts," she added.
Rajesh Sharma is shown in the teaser as a member of the Special Force who tries to persuade Radhika to come back. She makes a variety of absurd excuses, such as her son having a unit test in school or her mother-in-law being present. But finally, she gives in to him.
?Since it attempts to use humour to depict Radhika getting lured back into spy life, the movie's tone can be a little perplexing. Yet as she battles the serial killer and strives to discover who she is as a woman, the movie suddenly shifts into more serious territory.
Shaheb Chattopadhyay, Roshni Bhattacharya, Indrashish Roy, Angana Roy, Laboni Sarkar, and Biswajeet Chakraborty round up the rest of the cast, with Amrita Chattopadhyay making a surprise appearance. Zee5 will air the movie on April 14, 2023.
The last time we saw Radhika was in the Vasan Bala-directed Netflix movie Monica, O My Love. As ACP Vijayashanti Naidu, who investigates a serial of killings at a robotics business, she nearly stole the show from the rest of the ensemble cast.
