Six Emmy awards were given to the Squid Game drama out of its 14 nominations. The Korean drama created history by winning the main awards at the 74th Annual Television Academy Awards.
Lee Jung-Jae, the hero of the drama series Squid Game, became the first foreign-language actor to win Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards.
The first prime-time Emmy Award-winning non-English TV show is Squid Game.?The award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series went to Lee You-mi, who played Ji-Yeong, and Lee Jung-Jae took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The actor expressed gratitude to the show's creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, ¡°for making a real problem we all face come to life so creatively on the screen with a great script and amazing visuals.¡±
Squid Game was only intended to last for one season, but its enormous popularity has caused things to change. Both Lee and Hwang will return for Season 2. Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee, will be out for vengeance in the following season.
Lee Jung-Jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-Joon, HoYeon Jung, O Yeong-Su, Heo Sung-Tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung played vital roles in season 1 of Squid Game.
Lee Jung Jae and Hwang Dong Hyuk, the creators of the Squid Game, joined Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Council Member John Lee on September 9 in Los Angeles City Hall to celebrate and proclaim September 17th as "Squid Game Day." To recognise the date of the Netflix series "Squid Game" launch, which swiftly became the most popular show in the world, September 17 was designated as "Squid Game Day."
