The narrative of the recently released Netflix documentary Sweet Bobby is so bizarre it is difficult to believe. The documentary tells the true story of Kirat, a lady who was catfished for almost a decade. She continues to explain all that happened and how her relative caused her entire existence to collapse in the Netflix title. In Sweet Bobby, Kirat tells the account of how she spoke to a man named Bobby for years before he eventually refused to recognise her. It doesn't end here though, scroll down to know more.
(Spoilers ahead, you know what to do)
Kirat recounts all that transpired in this instance of catfishing in the documentary. She goes to provide specifics about texts she was sending to the person she believed to be Bobby and how she was beginning to feel romantically involved. When she discovered that the "real Bobby" had never spoken to her and that her cousin Simran had been speaking to Kirat in Bobby's stead for many years, her entire world fell apart.??
Simran confessed that she was the one talking to Kirat all these years from fake IDs and more, Kirat was devastated and she thought of seeking help from the police. However, the police thought the real people whom Simran was impersonating were the actual victims and not ner. So, she took matters into her own hands and collected evidence.?
As per Forbes, the folks at Tortoise Media reached out to her, as their original Sweet Bobby podcast was the inspiration for the documentary. MailOnline revealed in October 2021 that Simran maintains a low profile and resides with her parents in North West London. Simran declined to be interviewed, hence she was not featured in the documentary itself. An actress played Simran's part in the narrative. In a civil lawsuit against Simran for harassment, abuse of personal information, and data protection violations, Kirat won in 2020 and received a sizable compensation.?
?In response to the podcast, Simran and her lawyers also gave Tortoise Media a statement which reads, ¡°This matter concerns a family dispute over events that began over a decade ago when I was a school girl. As far as I am concerned, this is a private family matter that has been resolved, and I strongly object to the numerous unfounded and seriously defamatory accusations that have been made about me, as well as details of private matters that have been shared with the media.¡±
Well, in the documenatry Kirat explains that while the whole incident still takes a toll on her, she is working on being her own self. She also expressed that she is not sure if she will ever get to be a mother since now she is 44.
