A triple murder in an affluent south Delhi neighbourhood sets the stage for Delhi Crime Season 2 by inciting widespread dread and widening Delhi's class gap. The savage "Kachcha Baniyan" gang's accounts that terrorised the national capital in the 1990s served as the basis for the series, but with a twist.
The first season of Delhi Crime was based on a 2012 gang-rape in Nirbahaya, which shocked the entire world. The actors and crew of Delhi Crime have received positive feedback from the audience and critics. With this series, Shefali Shah has received the recognition she deserves.
¡°I don¡¯t know if finances are the only metrics, as there¡¯s certain conditioning. And there are definitely certain expectations people have about what they should get. I think it is less about your bank balance and more about what you think you deserve," Tanuj Chopra said.
¡°¡®Yeh Dilli shehar hai madam ji, yahan maangke nahi milta, cheen ke leni padhti hai¡¯. The line was special. Delhi is a beautiful city but also tough for the people living there. It¡¯s an aspirational city, populated¡ So, when you are hungry you take what you can, and that is the DNA of a lot of big cities, which we didn¡¯t want to overlook. The city is beautiful but it is also menacing.¡±
He also discussed 'Delhi Crime' Season 2's behind-the-scenes information like how he and his crew saw Delhi as a character and carefully selected places that were appropriate for the scene in the well-liked series.
¡°We scouted a wide range of locations all over the city: marketplaces, bastis, flyovers, colonies and farmland. I wanted to go beyond the typical landmarks we see in shows about Delhi.¡±
He further added, "I wanted to feature lesser seen places so the picture of the city feels authentic and real. We wanted to make a Delhi that's aligned with our themes, a dark bustling metropolis with people living in vastly different ways."
¡°People don¡¯t know much about this gang. They were very organised and we had to do a lot of research. In Season 1, they could rely on the audience to know the details of the case. But the world didn¡¯t know much about our case. So we had to make people understand who these people were whom we were chasing.¡±
¡°We always talk about what would make a good case¡ I think something that features another side of Delhi, which we haven¡¯t explored. Something that happened on the bus or on the streets. It would be interesting to see a case involving the higher side of Delhi.¡±
Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Adil Hussain, Anurag Arora, Sidharth Bhardwaj, and Gopal Dutt play significant parts in the crime-thriller series.
