The first poster for Pakistani star Fawad Khan's upcoming programme Barzakh was posted on Instagram.
The show's creators unveiled the first poster in advance of its premiere showing. Asim Abbasi, who also handled the feature film "Cake" and Zindagi's first Pakistani original "Churails," directed Barzakh (6 X 58').
The show was filmed in Karachi. It is a family drama that centres on a senior man's search for love. It examines fathers' and sons' generational trauma. The story is set in a fanciful universe with supernatural creatures and paranormal occurrences that highlight the gaps between life, death, and rebirth.
One internet user wrote, ※Not sure what you are bringing in for audience in the name of #Barzakh however, the title is quite sensitive and sentimental for if not many, but definitely for Muslim community. It is not really ※a land of nowhere§, it is very much definitive of what a soul would go through after qayammah! Many of our loved ones, not in this world, are waiting in #Barzakh - I hope this #Barzakh is different from ours!! PEACE!/§
A third wrote, ※heartiest Congratulations and best wishes on barzakh premiering tomorrow at Series Mania Festival, Lille. Though you've played the mysterious sort in Kadoorat and QHKN i am eager to see you experiment with the supernatural genre this time.§
Sharing more details about the show, Abbasi said, ※What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to have a soul, and does it survive us? How does one find hope and joy in a perpetual state of limbo? These are the central concerns of &Barzakh*.§
※In the aftermath of my father*s passing, and witnessing my son grow into a young boy, I found myself consumed with nostalgia, and memories of times gone and loves lost. And I began to think about my fears 每 the end of consciousness, the end of imagination, the end of love. And from these fears, grew a story where love was indeed eternal. Where it survived us 每 making it the ultimate human legacy,§ Abbasi added.
