Award-winning actor, comedian and filmmaker Billy Crystal is all set to headline the upcoming 10-episodic supernatural mystery series. Titled Before, this character-driven psychological thriller will start premiering on Apple TV+ on October 25 with the first two episodes followed by new episodes every Friday.
Before features Crystal as Eli who happens to be a child psychiatrist and soon after losing his wife, Lynn (Light) encounters a troubled young boy, Noah (Jupe). Noan strangely appears to have a haunting connection to Eli¡¯s past and as soon as Eli attempts to help Noah in his journey, their mysterious bond deepens and what unfolds for the audience is a thrilling watch arriving soon.
The series is executive produced by Crystal alongside Academy Award winner Eric Roth, creator Sarah Thorp, Adam Bernstein as pilot director, and Jet Wilkinson as producing director. Other than Crystal, Before also stars multi-Emmy and Tony Award winner Judith Light, Jacobi Jupe, Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez, Tony Award nominee Maria Dizzia Ava Lalezarzadeh and Sakina Jaffrey.
The recurring cast of Before includes Hope Davis, Stephen Wallem, Julia Cha, Miriam Shor and Itzhak Perlman among others.?Paramount Television Studios has backed this series created by Thorp who is also the showrunner, writer and executive producer.?Jet Wilkinson, David Petrarca, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour, and Zetna Fuentes have directed episodes.
Billy Crystal in a recent interview with Moviefine revealed that Before was his brainchild and how it kicked off the chain reaction ending up becoming a series. ¡°We had this notion of this pediatric psychiatrist working with a troubled kid who's presenting in a very specific way, and that was the mystery of what's he experiencing? It asked questions about, have we been here before? It got mysterious,¡± Billy said detailing his rough idea that we are all set to now see in a finished form this fall.
