Bread & Roses OTT release date Apple TV+: When to watch Malala Yousafzai-backed American documentary

Jennifer Lawrence and Malala Yousafzai-produced American documentary Bread & Roses is all set to stream soon. This docu-feature made its debut at the 2023 Cannes International Film Festival and was acquired by Apple Original Films for its digital premiere. Bread & Roses will be released on Apple TV+ on November 22, 2024.

Plot

Bread & Roses chronicles the Afghan women’s resistance against the Taliban around 2021 after US and UK forces withdrew from the country. The documentary sees the horrifying situations through the lens of three courageous Afghani women, who despite all the life threats resist the Taliban’s efforts to curb their freedom.?

The official synopsis of the documentary reads, “Bread & Roses offers a powerful window into the seismic impact that the fall of Kabul to the Taliban in 2021 had on women’s rights and livelihoods. The film follows three women in real-time as they fight to recover their autonomy. Sahra Mani captures the spirit and resilience of Afghan women through a raw depiction of their harrowing plight.”

Crew

Directed and produced by Sahra Mani, Bread & Roses is?co-produced by Jennifer Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi under their company Excellent Cadaver. Activist Malala Yousafzai later joined as an executive producer. The cinematography was handled by Abdul Sami Murtaza with Hayedeh Safiyari on the editing desk and the music was given by Masoud Sekhavat Doust. It’s a 90-minute-long documentary.

As much as?Bread & Roses is a must-watch for every person across the globe, it is also a heart-wrenching tale of that part of the world whose everyday reality is a horrific nightmare for others.
