'In My Head, I Had Arrived': Ayushmann Khurrana On Turning Arrogant After Success Of Debut Film

Bollywood's versatile actor Ayushmann Khurrana who loves to challenge himself with out-of-box roles has opened up on how the success of his first film made him arrogant. Ayushamnn made his Bollywood debut with Vicky Donor (2012) and saw a success that went on stepping up. His latest film An Action Hero is currently running in theatres.

Ayushmann recalled how his arrogance was on display to his closes ones and later they only led him to the right path.

In a conversation with YouTuber Sidharth Kannan, the Bala actor said, “It happened with me when my first film was a hit. In fact, it happened when I won my first reality show but it did not happen professionally. Sometimes you tend to show your arrogance to your close ones but when I met people professionally, I wasn't affected by it. In my head, I had arrived.”

He further added, “You come to Mumbai from a small town and achieve what you thought of, or achieve even more than what you could ever dream, anyone will lose their mind. But after my first film, I was not getting work. They were not meeting the benchmark of Vicky Donor, I wasn't getting those kinds of scripts.”

Khurrana recalled how those three struggling years went like before he gave his next big hit Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

He said, “Those three years (between Vicky Donor and Dum Laga Ke Haisha) were very important to ground me. They (the close ones) were very frank with me. I only have those people around me who are very blunt, and critical. Maybe that's why criticism from outsiders does not affect me as much because I know that I am getting real criticism at home.”

Ayushmann's currently running Anirudh Iyer directorial also has Akshay Kumar in a cameo. Soon after the film's release, the Anek actor penned a note for him.

Sharing a picture with Akshay, Khurrana wrote, “Flying high on the reviews and because the OG Khiladi is in the house (or rather plane) Thank you @akshaykumar sir for being a part of our film. We will always be grateful” For the unversed, An Action Hero skips a leading lady but has two dance numbers featuring Nora Fatehi and Malaika Arora.

Also starring Jaideep Ahlawat, the film opened up to shocking numbers on Day 1 and has just grossed 1.31 crores. The film held a lot of expectations as the last three theatrical releases of Ayushmann (Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Anek and Doctor G) didn't live up to expectations. The country hopes this film speeds up soon.
