Vicky Kaushal¡¯s Chhaava is not just winning hearts¡ªit¡¯s dominating the box office like a true warrior. In just seven days, the historical epic has bulldozed past the Rs 200 crore mark in India, cementing itself as the biggest Bollywood hit of 2025. As per trade tracking website Sacnilk, the film collected a solid Rs 19.61 crore (net) on its seventh day, bringing its total to a staggering Rs 217.36 crore. And the numbers are only climbing higher.
The film, which stormed into cinemas on February 14 with a powerful Rs 31 crore opening, showed no signs of slowing down. By day three, it had already crossed Rs 100 crore, setting the stage for an epic box office saga. With an overall Hindi occupancy of 23.42% on Thursday, the film¡¯s footfall ranged from a steady 17.25% in morning shows to a peak of 28.88% in the evening.
And it¡¯s not just India that¡¯s obsessed with Chhaava! The worldwide box office collections have soared past Rs 250 crore, making it the biggest Indian film of 2025 so far. It even dethroned Akshay Kumar¡¯s Sky Force, which previously held the year¡¯s top spot at Rs 168 crore.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava brings the legendary tale of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to life, with Vicky Kaushal in the titular role and Akshaye Khanna as Emperor Aurangzeb. The ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Vineet Kumar Singh, Ashutosh Rana, Neil Bhoopalam, and Diana Penty, has delivered power-packed performances that have won over audiences despite mixed critical reviews.
Kaushal, who underwent an intense six-month-long training regimen for the role, left no stone unturned in preparation. The actor described his training as ¡°extremely rigorous,¡± involving extensive horse riding and weapon combat. According to sources close to the actor, he dedicated six to eight hours daily to training, often returning home with fresh battle scars from the physically demanding action sequences. ¡°The discipline that this role demanded was unlike anything he had experienced before,¡± shared an insider.
Adding to its success, Chhaava has also been declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh and Goa, ensuring an even wider audience can witness its grandeur on the big screen. With its momentum showing no signs of slowing, all eyes are now on how far this historical spectacle will go!
