Celebrate the festival of unique stories in theatres near you!
Not even one week goes by without a film being largely celebrated inside cinema halls. This week it is Akshay Kumar¡¯s Mission Raniganj and Rhea Kapoor¡¯s Thank You For Coming. Not as massive as expected but both movie have made a decent start at the box office.
On October 6th, Akshay Kumar's "Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue," made its theatrical debut. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and written by Vipul K Rawal, the film is inspired by a true event that took place at Mahabir Colliery in Raniganj in November 1989. This event saw the successful rescue of 65 miners who were trapped in a flooded coal mine.
In a recent interview with PTI, Akshay shared, ¡°We are going through a very nice phase where people are doing all kinds of films and they are working. I have done both kinds of films (content and masala entertainers). Don't put pressure on the film by thinking that it will do business.¡±
¡°I can do that kind of film (commercial) and get that kind of numbers also. But I am happy doing a film that brings a change in society."
This Karan Boolani directorial is a coming-of-age drama based on the lives of five friends on a hunt to help one of them (Bhumi Pednekar) explore her pleasure. This loose sex comedy also features Shehnaaz Gill, Kusha Kapila, Dolly Singh and Shibani Bedi. This was also released on 6th October.
In conversation with Elle, Bhumi recently shared, ¡°Look, in my part of the world, a lot of comedies for women aren¡¯t written.¡± Being an actress who has explored various genres ¡°but it¡¯s never been a front-footed comedy, and it¡¯s never been a comedy that¡¯s written by women, a film that¡¯s being produced by a woman.¡±
She added, ¡°Female desire, female sexuality makes people very, very uncomfortable. But I love making people uncomfortable. I love making myself uncomfortable.¡± Thank You For Coming also stars Karan Kundrra, Sushant Divgikr, Anil Kapoor, Dolly Ahluwalia and Gautmik.
