Made on an estimated budget of Rs 80-Rs 100 crores, Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer Selfie has turned out to be a disaster at the box office. The film has so far minted Rs 10 crores, thus becoming one of the lowest openers of Khiladi Kumar's career.?
Talking about his films failing at the box office, Akshay took 100 percent responsibility for the same.?
"This is not happening with me for the first time. In my career, I have had 16 consecutive flops at a time. There was a time when I had eight films in a row that did not work. Now, I have had three-four films in a row that did not work. The thing is that it happens due to your own fault, film ka na chalna (a film not working). The audience has changed, you need to change, you need to dismantle yourself. You have to start again because the audience requires to see something else," he was quoted as saying by Aaj Tak.?
He added, "It is a great alarm, aapki film nahi chal rahi to galti aapki hai (If your films are not working, it is your fault). When your films flop in a row, it is an alarm for you that it is time for you to change. Mai koshish kar raha hun, wahi kar sakta hoon (I am trying to change, that is all I can do)."
"This film is for the fans, it is a tribute to the fans. ¡®Aap log hain toh hum hain, hamari filmein hain (We owe our films to you)", Hashmi had earlier said.?
Talking about the song, Emraan Hashmi had said, "I remember listening to this song when I was 16 years old, and it is such an iconic track. I was very nervous to dance with Akshay on this song. The best thing is Tanishk has not changed the song much.?It is an exceptional track, hope everybody likes it. You all have to make the song hit."
