Sunil Lahri Feels Kangana Is A Better Choice Than Alia To Play Sita, Says Latter Doesn’t Have ‘Innocence’ Anymore

It seems like we can never talk about the Ramayan again without mentioning Om Raut’s Adipurush. Ever since the film hit the big screen, it has been enveloped with controversies – from its offensive dialogues to poor VFX, fans are left feeling disappointed in the makers of the Rs 500 crore budget project.?

Now, Sunil Lahri, the actor who portrayed the role of Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar’s television adaption of the Hindu epic, has spoken about the film and said that he has high hopes from Kangana Ranaut’s interpretation of Sita in her upcoming film titled Sita: The Incarnation.

?The movie is directed by Alaukik Desai.?

During an interview with Live Hindustan, Sunil said that he has faith in Kangana’s creative decisions. He believes that the Tanu Weds Manu actor will not “tamper with culture.”

He said, “I have complete faith in Kangana’s film. She will not do anything like this, and whatever she does will only get respect for this character (Sita). I can’t speak about others but based on my own experience, I only want to say that one should not tamper with culture.”

In another conversation that took place earlier with Live Hindustan, Sunil was asked if he thinks Alia Bhatt can do justice to the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film based on the Ramayana. The film will reportedly feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, and Alia as Sita.?

Sunil said, “Ranbir can probably do it, but Alia cannot.”?

When asked why not, he said Alia does not have the certain “kind of sensitivity that is needed for Sita.”?

?“Maybe five years ago, Alia could have done it. But now, her face shows harshness and maturity. Sita’s face needs to be innocent, and that that doesn’t reflect anymore,” he added.?

He also said, “Ranbir can still play Ram. His face has calmness, and a little naughtiness as well. So, he can play Ram.”

?Lahri had also dissed Adipurush and expressed disappointed in the makers of the film. He had said that he does not understand who the director and writer of the movie were trying to cater to. He said that he feels the makers destroyed the essence of the film in order to stand out.?
