On Tuesday, The Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet naming 14 individuals and entities in a Rs 263 crore fraudulent Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) refund case. The reported mastermind in this scam is former Income Tax Inspector Tanaji Mandal Adhikari.
Best known for appearing in reality shows such as Big Boss and MTV Roadies, Kriti's former boyfriends Bhushan Patil and Rajesh Shetty are also accused in this case. An FIR was filed over claims of fraudulent issuance of refunds during the assessment years 2007-08 and 2008-09.
The FIR was initially lodged by CBI alleging that while Tanaji Mandal Adhikari, served as a tax officer, he had unauthorized access to login credentials of higher-ranking authorities and RSA Tokens. The probe suggested that Adhikari manipulated the system with the help of others and generated TDS refunds worth Rs 263 crores.
These were then transferred to multiple bank accounts including M/s SB Enterprises which is owned by another accused Bhushan Anant Patil.
The investigation under PMLA found that Kriti sold a property in Gurugram, which was acquired worth Rs 1.02 crore from the illegal proceeds. Around Rs 1.18 crore, again a part of the crime proceeds were traced to her bank accounts and authorities then immediately froze them.
Kriti moved from Delhi to Mumbai in 2017 and just one year later participated in MTV's reality show Roadies Xtreme. In 2018 itself, Verma entered the controversial Big Boss 12 house based on the season¡¯s theme of commoner duo alongside Surbhi Rana. Verma then appeared in several TV shows including Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na.

Although I am feeling a little disappointed to be evicted in the second week." Talking about entering showbiz, Kriti once shared, ¡°I resigned from my position as a GST inspector to go for Roadies.¡±
