The Twitter blue tick fiasco is a buzzing topic in town and Bollywood celebs seem to enjoy it more than anyone else. From Amitabh Bachchan asking for it to Priyanka Chopra dying for it, it¡¯s a fun ride to witness. But out of all this, one question that still got people scratching their heads is¡
Let us explain that to you! It all started with Twitter removing all legacy verified blue ticks from major accounts except those who subscribed (paid) to Twitter Blue. This led to several celebs including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, and others losing their verified badge on the micro-blogging site.

Twitter then started from square 1 and started returning the blue badges to accounts with more than 1 million followers. That¡¯s why within only a few days, the blue tick returned for actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan without even paying for it.
What went downhill for other celebs was that they took Twitter Blue Subscription in the interim when this whole development from Twitter was still in process. This included celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Jr NTR and SS Rajamouli among others. It means that these stars voluntarily started paying for the blue badge.
Kangana Ranaut remains to be a special case in this too. The actress¡¯s account was restored after years of a ban and as part of the policy, if a Twitter account is freed from suspension, the verification badge is automatically removed. That¡¯s what happened with Kangana. So the actress without aiming at the legacy verification process, chose to pay and get her account verified immediately.
For the unversed, the Twitter Blue subscription costs Rs 900 per month for mobile users and Rs 650 per month for desktop users (Rs 6800 per year). We hope that you are aware that now you can even buy verification badges on Instagram and Facebook through the newly launched ¡®Meta Verified¡¯ program.
