What Is The Legal Tussle Surrounding "Kedarnath" All About?
The legal feud emerged during the production of "Kedarnath" between Abhishek Kapoor and KriArj Entertainment, a production company that later dropped out of the project. The dispute caused disruptions in Sara Ali Khan's shooting schedule, as she had initially allocated her dates to the Karan Johar-backed film "Simmba," starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Rohit Shetty.
Abhishek Kapoor's Insights On The Situation
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Abhishek Kapoor shed light on the challenges he faced during the legal battle. He emphasized the complexities of movie-making and the need to protect the film, even from those expected to support it. Kapoor recounted how an overenthusiastic management team wrongly allocated Sara Ali Khan's dates to another project, jeopardizing the completion of "Kedarnath."
Balancing Courtroom Fights and On-set Shoots
Despite the ongoing legal dispute, Kapoor and Sara found themselves filming crucial scenes together. Kapoor explained the necessity of going to court to reclaim the actress's dates, stating, "While we are fighting in court during the day, Sara and I are shooting important scenes the same evening in a temple!"
Learning to Compartmentalize
Abhishek Kapoor reflected on the experience, acknowledging that it taught both him and Sara the importance of isolating and compartmentalizing issues. He emphasized the collaborative effort required to safeguard the film even in challenging circumstances.
Release Of "Kedarnath" Amid Controversies
"Kedarnath" hit theaters on December 7, just days before "Simmba" was released. Reports suggested that Sara Ali Khan's mother, Amrita Singh, preferred "Simmba" to be her daughter's debut. When questioned about this, Kapoor mentioned limited interaction with Singh and left the matter open-ended.
Complimenting Sara Ali Khan's Dedication
Abhishek Kapoor concluded by praising Sara Ali Khan's dedication and suitability for the lead role. He appreciated her hard work, describing her as "very hungry" for success and highlighting her fit for the character alongside Sushant Singh Rajput in the film.
