He was quoted as saying by ANI, "Really don¡¯t understand unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India, and pay all my taxes in India".
When Akshay appeared on the recent episode of Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan, he was about online trolling, to which he replied, "At the most, they write about Canada. Which I don't care". When KJo said that he is called Canada Kumar, he said, "Yeah Canada Kumar. Okay, call me that".
