Pushpa 2's Release Date Announced! Know The Inspiration Behind Allu Arjun’s Iconic Drag Look

Since its 2021 release, Pushparaj, the iconic character in Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rise, has remained deeply ingrained in our hearts. The sequel, Pushpa: The Rule, has generated immense excitement as the makers unveiled posters and a release date, causing a sensation on the internet.

Pushpa 2 will arrive in theatres on 15th August 2024.

Ever since the look of Arjun dressed in a saree, heavy makeup and bangles has surfaced, fans have been wondering what’s the significance of it.

Let’s decode this. There can be multiple references to his look and one of which is he being dressed as a woman to take part in Tirupati’s popular folk ritual Gangamma Talli Jatara. For the unversed, this festival is celebrated for a week every year around May.

As per a report in India Today, during the festival’s last day, men dress up as women and appear as Gangamma who is a deity known for destroying evils. It is also being reported that Pushpa’s director Sukumar has taken this festival as a backdrop to develop a heavy action sequence which will leave people thrilled.

Another two theories surfacing on the internet are either Pushpa is gender fluid or he has dressed up as a woman to escape the cops.

As the trailer of this sequel was released with the question ‘Where is Pushpa?’, it is a possibility that to escape the clutches of Pushpa the fierce Pushpa is dressed as a woman. A few media portals suggest that the character of Pushpa is gender fluid but as the man was mad in love with his Srivalli, this thought seems sceptical too.

Amidst all these theories, the film will hit theatres in late 2023 or early 2024. The film is on floors with Rashmika and Fahadh Faasl reprising their role. Written and directed by Sukumar, Pushpa’s music has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad with Miroslaw Kuba Brozek on the cinematographer’s chair.

DSP reveals whether the iconic track Oo Antava Va featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be reprised or not.

Talking about it, he said, “Everyone is waiting for Pushpa 2 – the film and its music. I’m truly thankful for all the love that everyone has showered on us. We aren’t looking at any reprise of Oo Antava in Pushpa 2 but it’s too early to say anything right now. We’re working on a lot of surprises. I hope everyone gives more and more love to the film and its album and make them memorable.”
