Anurag Kashyap is bowled over by Malayalam cinema. So much so that he feels Hindi movies are far behind them. He recently watched Manjummel Boys and Bramayugam and he is simply bowled over by the two movies.?
In his review of Manjummel Boys on?Letterboxd, he wrote, "Simply extraordinary piece of confident mainstream filmmaking. So much better than all the big budget filmmaking in india. Such confidence, such impossible storytelling. I was wondering how does one even sell this idea to a producer. In Hindi they can only do remakes of such ideas. Hindi cinema really is so far left behind with three back to back brilliant Malayalam films."
The movie revolves around eleven friends, who go to Kodaikanal for a trip, where they meet with tragedy.?Directed by Chidambaram, the movie stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S Poduval, Lal Jr, Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar and Vishnu Reghu.

Bramayugam is a Malayalam horror movie is so scary that people in the theatre almost got a mini heart attack watching the film.?Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, the Malayalam horror thriller also stars Sidharth Bharathan, Amalda Liz, and Arjun Ashokan in key roles. The film was released on February 15, 2024.? ?
Manjummel Boys will reportedly be streamed on?Disney+Hotstar. The release date however has not been announced yet.?
Bramayugam will stream on??Sony LIV from?March 15th.
Anurag Kashyap added that he now wants to watch Mammootty-starrer Kaathal: The Core, directed by Jeo Baby.
