Big Win! Indian Documentary 'Writing With Fire' Bags Audience Award At Sundance Film Festival

We are supremely proud to report that?Writing With Fire, an Indian film showcasing the rise of Khabar Lahariya, India’s only newspaper run by Dalit women, has won the audience award in the World Cinema Documentary category at the Sundance Film Festival 2021.

The documentary drama chronicles the journey of Dalit journalists and how they struggle to investigate and report the truth. This group of writers and reporters are led by?Meera who helps her team transition from print to digital to stay relevant.??

These honest and dedicated reporters are brilliantly directed as they investigate the incompetence of the local police force, listen to and stand by victims of caste and gender violence, and challenge long-standing, harmful practices that lead to injustice and intimidation.

?This documentary marks the feature debut of directors Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh.?
