The current talk of the B-town is the boycott trend on social media. Almost every movie falls victim to it - from theatrical release Laal Singh Chaddha to OTT release Darlings. Everyone is weighing in their opinions on the same. From Akshay Kumar to Aamir Khan, everyone has requested the audiences not to boycott their films.
When Arjun Kapoor who recently appeared on Koffee With Karan was asked about the same, he said 'we made a mistake by being silent for so long'.
By saying so, Kapoor invited trouble for himself. He became the target of trolls on social media. Not just that, BJP leader?Narottam Mishra who has once made Sabyasachi and Sunny Leone apologise, has called him out for "threatening" audiences.?Here's what he said!
"Film actor #ArjunKapoor threatening the public is not a good thing. Instead of threatening the public, focus on your acting. Why do the supporters of Tukde Tukde Gang who target Hinduism in their films threaten the public on Boycott (sic)?" he said.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, when Arjun Kapoor was asked about movies becoming a target of boycott trend, he said, "I think we made a mistake by being silent for so long. Our decency was taken for our weakness. We always believe in ¡®let the work speak for itself, all this doesn¡¯t matter. We tolerated it a little too much. Now people are used to it."
"Arjun Kapoor wants Bollywood to unite against boycotts is such selfless gesture.Boycott doesn't make any impact to his career anyway because he has no career whatsoever," read a comment.
Another tweet read, "Arjun Kapoor is angry with the boycott culture and wants to give it back to the audience. In response he has decided to quit acting. No movie no boycott. Arjun Kapoor - 1Public - 0".
