"Poor people, hungry people" - This dialogue from Munna Bhai MBBS shows how India is often perceived by the world beyond its borders. Chef Viaks Khanna who is best know for being the judge on?MasterChef India, was once asked about his food distribution drive during the Covid-19 when the BBC news anchor assumed that his motivation behind this stemmed from his "sense of hunger" in India. He instead got a savage response from him.?
In the viral video, the anchor asked, "You've cooked for the Obamas, you've been on TV show with Gordon Ramsay. But it was not always that way, was it? You are not from a rich family. So, I dare say, you understand how precarious it can be in India."
Chef Vikas Khanna wasn't offended by this. In a very calm demeanor, he responded, that he hails from?Amritsar, Punjab, where meals are cooked in Langars (community kitchen) and served to everyone. He then told him that his sense of hunger was invoked in New York, during his struggling days. That is when he learned the meaning of hunger.?
For the unversed, Chef Vikas Khanna had launched a?Feed India initiative during the Covid-19 pandemic. While sitting in the US, he provided meals and food packets and other necessary food items to those in need in his home country India.?
As the video went viral again, fans applauded Vikas Khanna for his savage response. "Vikas delivered a stellar comeback, shutting down that arrogant BBC journalist with ease," one of the users wrote. "Wow what a grand slam, Indians are pretty quick witted," said another user. "Indians should not be insulted," said another user. "He literally showed the door to BBC news anchor," a fourth user added. "A Tight Slap was much needed for this BBC whose earlier gen had classified us as "brown" even in school/college enrollment," said another user.?
