Comedian Sunil Pal has openly criticised Sunil Grover¡¯s comedy on Kapil Sharma¡¯s The Great Indian Kapil Show, calling it "cheap" and "vulgar." Pal has been vocal about his disapproval of the show in recent days, but his latest comments specifically target Grover's performance.?In an interview with Telly Talk India, Pal expressed his strong dislike for Grover's portrayal of female characters on the show. He accused Grover of depicting women in a disrespectful manner, suggesting that his comedy makes women appear "desperate."?
Pal further criticised Grover for sitting on people's laps during the show, a gesture he finds highly inappropriate. "Sunil Grover acts like a woman and sits on people¡¯s lap. Ghinn aati hai (it is so disgusting). He wears women¡¯s clothes and says vulgar things. It looks vulgar and cheap," Pal stated.
For those unfamiliar, Sunil Grover recently reunited with Kapil Sharma for Netflix¡¯s The Great Indian Kapil Show. In this show, Grover dons a saree and performs as a female character named ¡®Dafli.¡¯ This is not the first time Grover has taken on such roles; he previously played popular female characters like Gutthi and Rinku Devi on Kapil¡¯s earlier shows.
Pal¡¯s criticism did not stop at Grover¡¯s performance. He also took to Instagram to express his satisfaction with the show¡¯s recent wrap-up. In a video, Pal argued that Kapil Sharma is more suited for television than digital platforms like OTT (over-the-top) services. "It¡¯s good your show is ending. You are not an OTT artist. You are a TV artist," Pal remarked.
Despite the show¡¯s recent conclusion, fans need not worry. Kiku Sharda, another key member of the show, revealed in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha that the wrap-up is only temporary. Sharda confirmed that the team will return for a second season after a short break. ¡°We have done 13 episodes, and the second season will come out soon. We have just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the next season, and it will come out soon. There won¡¯t be a very huge gap,¡± Sharda explained.
Sharda also discussed the format change, noting that while the show used to have longer episodes on television, switching to a digital platform required a different approach. ¡°On television, it used to be longer, but it is about different formats. This is also interesting. There will be a short gap now, and the second season will be back soon. It sounds like a wrap because we make it look like it. But it is temporary. We will be functioning soon again,¡± he added.
