Deepika Padukone is one of the most successful actors in the Indian film industry right now. Paired up with husband and superstar Ranveer Singh, the two A-listers make an outstanding power couple.
During a recent interview with The Week, the 37-year-old actor dished out details about her fame and how being married to Ranveer Singh brings in bigger profits for the two of them. As we know, Deepika-Ranveer are one of Bollywood's elitist couples, so their value is much higher together, especially for brands.?
When asked if she charges differently individually for ads and films as compared to when she pairs up with Ranveer, Deepika said,?¡°Yes, we do charge a premium for when we come together. I think we are positioned quite uniquely. In that, there¡¯s usually an imbalance in a power couple, but not with us. Plus, both of us have started from scratch and it¡¯s something we are very proud of. To achieve success on merit and on one¡¯s own terms makes us special.¡±
It makes sense to monetise on something only you can bring to the table, and brands are more than happy to pay the bigger amount to get both superstars on board.?
However, Deepika did reveal that she charged nothing for her guest appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. While talking about her equation with SRK, she said,?¡°We are each other¡¯s lucky charm. But honestly, we are beyond luck. We have a sense of ownership over each other.¡±
Deepika made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan's 'Om Shanti Om' in 2007.?
In fact, she also did not take any money for her special appearances in Ranveer's films '83' and 'Cirkus'. She was also a co-producer on '83', and had a cameo as Kapil Dev's wife Roma. For Rohit Shetty's 'Cirkus', she appeared for a special dance number alongside Ranveer.?
She is even the global brand ambassador for high-end luxury brand Louis Vuitton. She joked how she initially couldn't believe it.?
¡°I was at Cannes as a jury member. I was driving past the promenade and to my right was this huge LV store with my face staring right back at me. That¡¯s when I realised what had really happened. Everything i had manifested for what more we could do as Indians came true," she added.
