Just like Bollywood stars, even cricketers are subject to massive trolling. Sometimes trolls are brutal and mean, not just to the cricketers but they often troll their family members too, including their wives.
During the World Cup 2023, India was on a winning streak until the last final match when they lost. Luck wasn't on their side.
On the final day of the match,?KL Rahul was one of those who were criticised for not fielding well and for a poor strike rate. He scored 66 runs off 107 deliveries against Australia.?
"The faith of the people in him, the selectors, the faith of the captain, it said it all. It hurts me 100 times more than it would hurt Rahul or Athiya," he told ANI in an interview adding that his son-in-law often tells him to not react. "Dad, my bat will talk," he tells him.?
Suniel Shetty also said that he is very superstitious when India plays. He watched the entire world cup in a room along with his wife and sat on the floor.
Before the World Cup 2023, Suniel in a message to KL Rahul had said, "I believe he (KL Rahul) is my son. I don¡¯t know how to be a father-in-law. I am a better father¡ I call him my son only. (World Cup is approaching) My fingers are crossed. Let the best team win. We have got an extraordinary team. (hope they) play well, play hard and play fair."?
In an interview with India Today, he had called himself his fan. "I don¡¯t know the role of father-in-law. I was his fan. Today, there is a relationship, but I loved Rahul like I do a lot of young talent. I am someone who has always gone to watch young talents perform, even in my prime as an actor. I would go to Wankhade to watch young people play. When I saw Rahul play, I thought this kid was good, and then he is from my own backyard, he is from Mangalore," he was quoted as saying.
