In a recent interview with Times Now, Kangana Ranaut, an actor-turned-politician and BJP candidate from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, stirred controversy by mistakenly referring to Subhas Chandra Bose as India's inaugural Prime Minister. Her remarks, although factually incorrect, have sparked widespread discussion and even ridicule on social media platforms.

During the interview, Ranaut asserted, "When we gained independence, where did the first Prime Minister of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, go?" Despite being corrected about Bose not holding the position of Prime Minister, Ranaut alluded to the popular conspiracy theories surrounding Bose's disappearance, questioning, "He wasn't, but why? Where did he go? How was he made to disappear?"
Ranaut's comment drew criticism from various quarters, with Bharat Rashtriya Samithu (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao taking a dig at her and the BJP on social media. The video clip of Ranaut's statement quickly went viral, with many users lambasting her for the "ill-informed remark."
In response to the backlash, Ranaut has now shared an article clipping on her Instagram Stories highlighting Bose's declaration as the Prime Minister of Azad Hind in 1943.
Defending her stance, she took to Twitter, stating, "All those who are giving me gyan on the first PM of Bharata do read this screen shot here's some general knowledge for the beginners."
She further added, "If I speak way ahead of your IQ you assume I must be uninformed, well the joke is on you and it's a lame one!!"
Facts About Subhas Chandra Bose
Subhas Chandra Bose's pivotal role in history cannot be overlooked. On October 21, 1943, in Singapore, Bose formed the Azad Hind (Free India) government, assuming the positions of Prime Minister, Head of State, and Minister of War amidst World War II.
Under Bose's leadership, Captain Dr. Lakshmi Swaminadhan led the women's organization and commanded the Rani Jhansi Regiment, the first women-only battle regiment in Asia, which fought for the Indian National Army.
The Azad Hind Sarkar asserted authority over Indian civilians and military personnel in territories then under British occupation, introducing its own currency, court system, and civil code.
