'Sab 1000 Cr Mein Phasein Hain', Manoj Bajpayee Says Nobody Talks About Performances In Films

Known for his consistency, Manoj Bajpayee is worried that people are not discussing content or performances in movies these days. They are all discussing box office numbers instead.?

"Koi baat hi nahi karraha hai ki film kaesi hai? Koi baat karne ko raazi nahi hai performances kaesi hai. Baki departments ki kya contribution hai? Kya hai na hum sab??1000 crore aur??300 crore aur??400 crore mein phasein huye hai. Yeh jhagda kayi saalon se chal raha hai aur mujhe lagta hai ki yeh khatam hone wala hai nahi," he said in an interview with journalist Puja Talwar.

The current talk of the tinsel town is the roaring success of films like RRR and KGF: Chapter 2.?While RRR has minted Rs 246 crore in four weeks at domestic box office and over Rs 1,000 at the global box office, KGF Chapter 2 is also shattering records. The Yash starrer film has also crossed Rs 1000-crore mark at the global box office.

Manoj Bajpayee says the success of South films is sending shivers down the spine of Bollywood filmmakers.

"Itni blockbuster ho rahi hai (from the south)... forget about Manoj Bajpayee and the likes of me for a minute, it has sent a shiver down the spine of all the mainstream filmmakers from the Mumbai film industry. They really don’t know where to look," he told TOI in an interview.

Applauding the South industry, Bajpayee explained their style of filmmaking and what sets them apart. "They are unapologetic, they are passionate, and every shot they take as if they are taking the best shot in the world. And so much thought and passion goes into it. Not even once do they talk about the audience in a demeaning way. They don’t say that the audience will understand. ‘ Yeh massy hai, yeh chal jayega’ – they never talk in this language. They shoot a film as they have envisioned it, they don’t dumb it down for the audience because they hold their audience in the highest regard and their passion is supreme."?
