From Sangam to Dilwale Dulhania?Le Jayenge?and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, hundreds of Indian films have been shot in Switzerland. And Yash Chopra, mainly, was the game changer for Indian films in the country. So much so, that for many Indians a European trip only meant getting clicked in the snow in high-boots or a saree, like a scene straight out from a Bollywood movie.

It was indeed Yash Chopra who introduced Switzerland to Hindi Cinema. There’s a mountain lake in the country nicknamed as Yash Chopra Lake. In the town called Interlaken, a statue of him holding his camera was unveiled in 2016, after his death.

For India, Switzerland was the most romantic place in the world. It was the ultimate Bollywood dream. Of course, the tourism in the country increased by a large number. But what happened in the last decade? Indians’ fascination decreased with Bollywood’s dying love for Switzerland.

However, it was revived and how. Switzerland appointed Ranveer Singh as the brand ambassador. He campaigned for the country and showcased how fun and adventurous it still is.
