One of the most unforgettable pitches on Shark Tank India season 1 was definitely?Navel Fukai, by Shrawani Engineers founders Baldev Jumnani and Jayshree Jumnani. The product that claimed to give women?Gol Nabhi became a butt of jokes not only on the show but also among the audiences. No one took it seriously. Cut to, a couple of years later, the founder has reported?100X growth. The belly button shaper is now selling in five countries including the US where you can buy it in Walmart.??
In Shark Tank India, Baldev Jumnani and Jayshree Jumnani asked for Rs 10 lakh for 20 percent equity at a Rs 50 lakh valuation. The cost of the product at that time was Rs 650 and had done Rs 4.5 lakhs of sale before making a pitch on the show. This means they had sold over 700 units. The Sharks didn't take the business seriously and often called it one of the funniest pitches on the show ever.
Years later, they have now reported a 100 percent growth in the business and are selling their product via distribution channels in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Jabalpur and Bhopal. Not just that, the product is now available in South Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal as well as the United States, where it is available in Walmart in New Jersey. They raised Rs 35 lakhs capital from a US-based investor, they told YouTube channel Backstage With Millionaires.
Baldev and Jayshree revealed that they were told to speak the script written by the Shark Tank India team on the show. The script however turned a pharma product into a fantasy product. Baldev also revealed that he didn't want the audience to perceive his product as a fantasy product but he was made to do so for TRPs. He even asked if they didn't like his product, and why was it chosen among 75,000 other products to feature on the show. He believed it was only for entertainment purposes. He slammed the makers for ridiculing him in a LinkedIn post last year.?
