Nawazuddin Thanks Casting Director For His Racist Remark, Says He Doesn’t Give A Damn About It

On one hand we talk of how our Indian actors face racism in the west – when Deepika was confused for Priyanka Chopra by foreign media, she termed it as “racism”. And on the other hand, we are still fussing over why celebrities, as big as Shah Rukh Khan, are endorsing fairness creams giving a message that whiter skin is more beautiful. There are no doubts that racism still exists, in India and abroad – and in Bollywood too.

Just when we thought that the debate on racism has been taken over by that on nepotism these days, Sanjay Chouhan, casting director of Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Babumoshai Bandookbaaz sparked off a new controversy saying that he couldn’t cast fair and handsome people opposite Nawaz.

“Keeping Nawaz in mind, all other characters were taken on board. We can't cast fair and handsome people with Nawaz. It would look so weird. You have to take people with distinct features and personalities when pairing them with him.,” a Deccan Chronicle report quoted him as saying.

And with this Nawaz was made acquainted to the dirty side of the industry. The actor who has earlier said in a statement that racism doesn’t exist in the industry thanked the casting director for enlightening him on this on Twitter.

“I think there is no racism in this film industry. They are only in need of talent though it takes time, if you are talented you will get your due. I am thankful to be part of this industry,” Nawaz had earlier said in a statement.

Nawaz is a talented actor and nothing can stop him from reaching heights in the industry.?
