Durgesh Kumar was born in Darbhanga and completed his schooling there before moving to Delhi. In Delhi, he balanced teaching at a school with learning theatre at the National School of Drama. Seeking bigger opportunities, Durgesh moved to Mumbai to pursue an acting career. His debut was a small role in the film Highway. Despite this start, he struggled for many years, only landing minor roles and facing constant rejection.
