Despite his success in the popular series Panchayat, actor Durgesh Kumar, known for his role as Bhushan, aka Banrakas, says he is still struggling to get good film projects. In an interview with IndianExpress, Durgesh shared that even after showcasing his talent in three seasons of Panchayat, he is not getting offers for major commercial films.?Durgesh¡¯s journey to success was tough. It took him 12 years, during which he faced two bouts of depression and lost a job at the National School of Drama. Despite these challenges, his talent in the panchayat hasn¡¯t yet led to big roles.
In a conversation with indianexpress.com, Durgesh, who has also appeared in small roles in Kiran Rao¡¯s Lapataa Ladies and the Bhumi Pednekar film Bhakshak, said, "I am still not getting good projects. The offers I receive are mostly for independent films, not big commercial ones. But I am making the most of the roles I do get."
On a positive note, Durgesh revealed that he has enough work lined up for the next two years. He mentioned he will appear in several upcoming projects, including Junaid Khan¡¯s debut film Maharaj, where he plays a comic role with just two scenes. He is also part of Saif Ali Khan¡¯s Kartavya and the independent film Ratanpura. Additionally, he will be seen in Gangs of Ghaziabad, which stars Shatrughan Sinha, Ashutosh Rana, and Mukesh Tiwari.
Panchayat, directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, released its third season on May 28. The show features a talented cast, including Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Pankaj Jha, and Sunita Rajwar.
