On Friday, Priyanka triggered a controversy with her remarks on the ongoing Iran protests. While many in India lauded the actress for taking a stand, others questioned the actress for ignoring similar issues rampant in India.?

Taking to Twitter, a user wrote, "Priyanka Chopra’s concern for Iranian women is hugely appreciated, but her silence on Bilkis Bano and the state-enabled persecution of Muslims, especially marginalised women in her home country, India is worth introspection ?"?

Another said, "Celebrities can’t gain woke points by speaking about issues outside of their country, while simultaneously ignoring similar issues that are rampant in India."While a third person on the micro-blogging platform wrote, "Priyanka Chopra comes out in support of everyone except Indians."?

"Your activism of convenience is pukeworthy. This means nothing when you choose to look away from the plight of hijabi women in India who are denied education for wearing a piece of cloth over their head, harassed by hindutva goons and state. You are a Hypocrite!" another wrote tagging @priyankachopra on Twitter.?
