Almost every film has become a target of the boycott trend in recent times. Ahead of the release of Ayan Mukerji's Brahamastra, the Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor-starrer is the latest film to fall victim to the trend. Now, an old statement of the actor on beef has surfaced and people are calling for the boycott of his film.?
What did Ranbir Kapoor say in the old statement? The video is from the time when Kapoor was promoting Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar, a pathbreaking film of his career. In the video, he talks about his love for food and admits that he likes beef.?
"Ranbir Kapoor beef khata hai. Yhi brahmastra ka heero hai. #BoycottBrahmastra," wrote a Twitter user.
Earlier, people wanted to boycott the film after Alia Bhatt said in an interview that "if you don't like me, don't watch me". She said this in response to a question about getting trolled for nepotism. This was during the promotions of Darlings.?

People also had a problem with a scene in the film where Ranbir Kapoor can be seen wearing shoes inside a temple. When the boycott calls had intensified after this, the director of the film Ayan Mukerjee clarified the same in a statement.
He said that people couldn't see in the trailer that Ranbir's character enters a?durga?puja pandal and not a temple.
"We had some people in our community, upset because of one shot in our Trailer ¨C Ranbir¡¯s character wearing shoes as he rings a Bell. As the Creator of this film (and a devotee), I wanted to humbly address what happened here".
Furthermore, he explained, "In our movie, Ranbir is not entering a temple, but a Durga Puja Pandal. My own family has been organising a similar kind of Durga Puja Celebration for¡ 75 years! One, which I have been a part of since my childhood. In my experience, we only take off our shoes, right on the stage where the Goddess is, and not when you enter the Pandal."
"It is personally important for me to reach out to anyone who may have been upset with this image¡ because above all, Brahm¨¡stra is created as a movie experience which pays respect to, and celebrates ¨C Indian culture, traditions and history. That is at the heart of why I made this movie, so it is very important to me that this feeling, reaches every Indian who is watching Brahm¨¡stra!"
