Actor Pankit Thakker recently shared a chilling experience of narrowly escaping a terror attack in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to the Times of India, Pankit revealed that he had planned to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. However, he learned of the attack just in time and returned to his hotel, unable to complete his pilgrimage.
"It was horrifying," Pankit recalled. "It took me days to come out of the experience and talk about it." Expressing deep sadness and anger over the incident, he condemned the violence that has plagued Jammu and Kashmir recently.
"The violence that has been going on in Jammu and Kashmir in the past few days is absolutely shameful. It is disheartening to witness innocent lives being lost and the escalating tensions in the region," he stated.
The attack occurred on June 9, when terrorists fired upon a bus carrying pilgrims heading towards Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The bus, carrying passengers from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi, veered off a cliff after the gunfire, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuring 41 others.
Pankit urged unity against such violence, emphasising that Jammu and Kashmir, known for its natural beauty, deserves peace instead of turmoil.
