Riteish Deshmukh didn't mince his words as he delivered a speech, which fans hail as powerful, to support his brother, a Congress candidate, Dhiraj Deshmukh, in Latur, Maharashtra. Dhiraj is all set to fight BJP candidate Ramesh Karad in the Latur (Rural Assembly)?in the November 20 Maharashtra polls. In his speech, he said, "Those who beg for votes saying your religion is in danger. Actually, their party is in danger."
In his speech, the Bollywood actor mentioned about Lord Krishna and said, "Lord Krishna said karma (work) is dharma (religion). The one who works sincerely is doing dharma. Those who don¡¯t work need religion. Those who claim their religion is in danger, it is their party that is in danger, and they are praying to their dharma to save their party and themselves. Tell them we will take care of our religion, you first speak about development."
Riteish Deshmukh,?whose late father?Vilasrao Deshmukh?had been the chief minister of Maharashtra,?also pointed out the problem of unemployment of youth in state.?He also mentioned that farmers were not getting fair prices for their crops. He urged them to vote for his brother?Dhiraj Deshmukh?in a way that makes the opposition lose badly, while pointing out that Dhiraj had won by?big lead of 1.21 lakh votes in 2019.
While some people praised his speech, others said that he should stick to acting. Some even wondered if he will take a political plunge soon. "Agar yeh Maharashtra politics main full time ghusa then he can very well be a CM in future (If he gets fully involved in Maharashtra politics, he could very well become a CM in the future).?
Another user asked, "Ok... so what is he doing... Not begging for votes?" Another user said,?"Film career is not going well, good career change", while a third user said, "Understand the compulsion of Dad's party but Ritesh has no idea how real world is." Another user urged him, "@Riteishd bhai, stay away from politics. We all love you."
Riteish Deshmukh's elder brother Amit Deshmukh is also contesting elections from Latur (City) in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
